Irene Sander tells this story:

I remember Peter and I as kids walking up Three Chain Rd to a Matinee on Saturday afternoon and a magpie attacked us, he pecked Peter’s head and took a small piece from his head. With blood pouring from the wound we had to go into a ladies house and she took us home, Peter had a stitch or 2 in his head. Peter, Brian McBride, Barry McBride and myself were all born the same year so always had a close friendship with Peter. I’m sure that is the bike he rode. I had a ride on the pillion much to Mum’s worry!
